FOUR LEGGED RUNNING 5K

Race Information

The 2022 Four Legged Running 5k race will benefit the following (click each name to visit the organizations website and learn more):

Spencer Rescue - Troy, IL

Sterilization Nation - St. Clair County, IL

Virtual race registration will close on October 19, 2022 - so please tell your animal loving/running friends near and far about the virtual race option so that we can all race for rescues together!

All virtual race entries will include one finisher medal. You may add on additional medals for any pets who may be racing with you ($8 each).

Race packets will be shipped in mid to late November. You can race anytime between now and December 31st.

When registering for the Virtual Race: Please choose if you would like your race medal(s) shipped to you or if you would like to pick up at Furchild of O'Fallon, IL starting on October 22, 2022. If you choose local pick up at Furchild, an additional $6 of your entry fee will be donated to our partnering non-profit animal rescue organizations! Thank you for considering.

Race Fee Breakdown:

FLR's makes a consious effort to set affordable race entry fees, remember that half of every entry fee is donated directly to non-profit animal rescue organizations! This allows you to race and raise substantial funds just by signing up for the FLR 5k!

Here is what your entry fee covers:

Donation to non-profit animal rescue organization(s): $20

Finisher Medal: $5-9 (depending on quantity)

For participants in the live race: insurance, permit fees, refreshments, signage, on course first responders/traffic control, etc.

For virtual participants: Shipping: $5-9 (depending on shipping costs)

Also, the In-Person + ONE DOG ENTRY registration price includes an additional meda for your dog and a pet swag bag!

Make Your Own Race Shirt!

FLR wants to make our races more affordable, sustainable, and eco-friendly. Knowing that many race swag items often end up in a landfill or get donated, we have chosen to forgo the standard "free" shirt included with your entry. We know that this is sad for many runners so we are providing you with FREE custom images to choose from that you can use to create your own race shirt or swag choosing the style and material of shirt you like best!! Use a Cricut or purchase iron on transfer paper from your favorite craft store to create your swag! We can't wait to see how you make this race swag your own!

Race Information

Race Rules

5k participants must be at least 14 years of age by race day.

No refunds issued unless the race is canceled at the fault of Four Legged Running.

The 2022 FLR 5k is an open course. This means that roads will not be closed for this event, runners must be cautious and share the road with drivers. Traffic control will be present at 3 busy intersections to aid in traffic stops and to allow participants across the intersection. Be prepared to stop if needed. While we welcome competitive runners to FLR events, safety and fun are our first concerns. This is a fun run to support a great cause!

Maximum of 500 participants.

One dog per racer permitted to race, maximum capacity of 50 dogs will be allowed to race. If you are not able to register your pet due to capacity, please bring a spectator to stay with your pet while you race so that you can all attend the Downtown Dog Day event after the race!

Strollers are allowed and must start race at back of the pack.

Race Day Rules for Pets:

Maximum of 50 dogs will be allowed to race
Dogs must be on a non-retractable leash or they will be removed from the course
All humans must carry dog waste bags and clean up doggy poop
Do not approach other dogs before speaking with their humans and allowing a slow introduction
keep dogs at a safe distance from one another at the start line to avoid altercations
If you have an aggressive pet, please let them stay in the safety of their own home - you can sign your pup up for the virtual race to run for rescues without a crowd
Be cautious of your pet's health and safety
- If your dog has never run a 5k, please discuss with your vet, then be sure to gradually train them gradually and properly as a human would or refrain from entering at this time

Weather Policy:

Race director has the authority to cancel or delay the race due to extreme weather conditions. The race may be canceled or cut short due to weather, should the event begin, but weather worsens during the course. In the event of weather cancelation, there will be NO refunds.

Half Marathon, 5k, and Dog Mile Volunteer | Date: November 17, 2020 |Time: 6am-1pm

*Must be 18 years of age on race day to volunteer. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

As a volunteer, you agree to the following:

I know that volunteering at a road race is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I certify that I am medically able to volunteer at this event, and am in good health. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in volunteering at this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I assume all risks associated with volunteering in this event, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and inconsideration of your accepting my entry to volunteer, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Four Legged Running Inaugural Half Marathon and 5k, the city of Mascoutah, IL, and the Road Runners Club of America, all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
